Professional Profile
Having grown up in Aberdeen, Andrew studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, where he completed both his undergraduate degree and basic surgical training.
He went on to his higher surgical training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) in Oswestry, a specialist centre of excellence.
Andrew became the National Spinal Fellow at Leeds in 2011, where he trained extensively under both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons, mastering a wide range of advanced techniques for treating spinal conditions.
He returned to his roots in the North East of Scotland and was appointed a consultant spine and trauma surgeon at NHS Grampian in 2012.
As a full-time spine surgeon, he dedicates his elective practice to spinal surgery and has extensive experience in treating complex spinal conditions such as sciatica and spinal stenosis. As a surgeon in both the NHS and private sector, he performs over 200 spinal operations each year, offering consistent, specialist care.
Andrew currently has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both at international and national conferences. He holds an honorary clinical academic appointment at the University of Aberdeen and is actively involved in teaching, being awarded the Scottish Trainer of the Year by the British Orthopaedic Trainee Association in 2019.
